The circle is complete

A brief history lesson.

In 1792 a girl was transported to Australia for horse stealing. She was fifteen at the time. She went on to become one of the most successful business women in Sydney. Her name is Mary Reibey and her life is now celebrated on the Australian $20 note.

She also happens to be my Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandmother and a blogger! That journal makes some interesting reading and covers the year that she returned to England before deciding that Sydney town was where the action was.

That was the start of my Australian lineage but now, indeed tomorrow, the circle is completing. Nearly six years ago I moved to the UK. Thankfully I did it on an aeroplane and not a ship. After several visa applications from Ancestral and Leave to Remain, we have now completed all the final steps to becoming British citizens.

Tomorrow I will become British. Why is someone so fiercely and proudly Australian so excited about being British? One little red book. A British passport will open up the doors to make it so much easier to work anywhere in the European Union and since working in SAP is a passport in itself that can only be a good thing.

The only test I fail is the Cricket Test.

Pimms anyone?

Social networks are making Scoble Anti-social

But I’m getting tired of adding friends on all these social networks. I’m getting really anti social because of all of these things.

My QOTD. Thanks Scoble!

What could SAP TechEd do?

Just saw this story and thought I would put the challenge out there to those setting up the SDN / SAP TechEd conferences.

While I am trying to blag my way in, the maths are pretty simple. There will be about 5000 delegates paying US$2000 in Vegas in early October. They will let in a few freebies but that is a pretty big budget. Working out some way to ‘pay back’ would be a great thing to do.

What about it? Do it silently or loudly – your choice.
